PRESS RELEASE

JMS Teams Up with jibtv, UNFPA, and Wesley Zaidan to Spotlight Global Fight Against Gender-Based Violence

TOKYO, JAPAN, October 11, 2024 — Japan Media Services is proud to announce its latest video production in partnership with Japan International Broadcasting Inc. (jibtv), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and Wesley Zaidan, focusing on the global issue of gender-based violence. This timely project will explore how Cambodia and Japan are addressing gender-based violence through innovative programs, grassroots efforts, and impactful policy reforms. Japan International Broadcasting Inc. (jibtv) is a subsidery of Japan's national broadvaster NHK.

This powerful collaboration aims to raise awareness of the critical issue of gender-based violence, which affects millions worldwide. By highlighting the efforts in both Cambodia and Japan, the video will showcase the ongoing fight to create safer, more equitable environments for women, men, and children.

This marks the second collaboration between Japan Media Services and jibtv following their highly successful video on the Sado Island Gold Mines, which was produced before the site’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Building on that success, Japan Media Services is excited to work with jibtv again, this time joined by the United Nations Population Fund and Wesley Zaidan, both of whom are deeply involved in gender-based violence prevention efforts globally and locally.

“The opportunity to work with jibtv again, alongside UNFPA and Wesley Zaidan, allows us to address this critical issue with the urgency it deserves,” said Rionne McAvoy, CEO of Japan Media Services. “This collaboration underscores our commitment to producing content that fosters social change and raises awareness about global challenges.”

The video will feature in-depth interviews, survivor stories, and on-the-ground reporting, providing insights into how Cambodia and Japan are working to combat gender-based violence. Viewers will be inspired by the courageous individuals and organizations fighting to end violence and create a more just society.

The video will air on NHK World early next year and will also be distributed to international audiences, further amplifying the reach and impact of this important message.
